Your Puppy's Education

Participating with your Miniature Schnauzer in the many Performance Events is rewarding for both you and your canine friend -- PLUS IT IS A LOT OF FUN.

Your local dog training club will often have wonderful classes for you and your puppy to attend.

It is a combined learning experience -- puppy AND owner

**Puppy Class

A valuable class for puppies under six months of age.  The class teaches manners and behaviors that provide a good start to life with you and your family.  Your puppy will learn traditional skills such as sit, down, come when called and will learn how to settle and accept handling for care and maintenance.  Socialization skills with humans and other puppies will be learned.

**Obedience

All dogs should learn some sort of obedience.  Learning to walk on a lead, retrieving articles, jumping over obstacles, and staying in place are just some of the behaviors they can learn.  Learning to come or stay in place might just save their life. Obedience training will create a well behaved dog at home and in public places.

Agility

Dogs race against the clock as they navigate an obstacle course.  It involves following a specific path, jumping, running, walking a beam, doing weave poles, tunnels, and more.

Scent Work

One of your dogs favorite activities “sniffing” is turned into a fun and rewarding game. Dogs search for cotton swabs saturated with a variety of essential oils. Neither dog or handler know the location of the swab.

Rally

A fun way to do timed obedience.  You and your dog follow a numbered path with instructions at each station on the skill to be performed.  Using signals you tell your dog what to do at each station.

Fast CAT

Fast CAT stands for Coursing Ability Test.  It is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time chasing a lure.

Tracking

Your dog can sniff to his hearts content, demonstrating his natural ability to recognize and follow a scent outside in the fresh air.

Barn Hunt

Here your Miniature Schnauzer can practice what the breed was first developed for — to catch rats.  As a team, owner and handler locate rats which are safely held in aerated tubes hidden in a maze of straw or hay bales. Barn Hunts test the nose, speed, and agility of your dog hunting above ground vermin.

Lure Coursing

Dogs chase a mechanized white plastic lure around a 600+ yard course that simulates chasing live prey, zigging and zagging across an open field.

Swimming & Diving -- just plain fun!
